The UK’s Premier Festival & Competition
for Amateur Wine & Beer Enthusiasts

News from the Wales and West

AFTER OUR ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE FESTIVAL TO THE OXFORD AREA SCUPPERED BY THE PANDEMIC AND HAVING NOW NOT BEEN ABLE TO RUN THE EVENT FOR TWO YEARS WE ARE NOW LOOKING TO MAKE SOME INTERESTING, EVEN RADICAL, CHANGES.

Well as we know the ‘wheels all came off’ in 2020 and we are now looking to restart in 2022.  Having had such a long time since we all met up, 2019 in fact, it seems a good time to revisit and replan.

We were all looking forward to Denman College as something completely different making the journey for all our supporters from north a bit easier.  We would have restarted our booking with them if it wasn’t for that fact that they have been sold off by the Women’s Institute and no longer exist.

So –  two major changes –  firstly a move back to the seaside to Weston Super Mare and secondly away from our traditional bank holiday weekend.

We are also planning to make a root and branch update of the competition class list which is a legacy of the times when we had 3000 entries or more.

We recognise that change is always unsettling but if the last 18 months has taught anything it is thinking the unthinkable.
